This makes it an attractive option for retirees or anyone looking to relocate on a budget.

Gambians come together to celebrate important events such as weddings, funerals, and religious holidays, creating a strong sense of unity and shared purpose. This togetherness is also evident in the concept of the ‘’compound’’, where family members live in close proximity and engage in communal activities such as sharing meals and participating in cultural traditions.

In addition to this, Gambians have a strong sense of generosity and kindness towards others, which is reflected in their willingness to share food and resources with their neighbours during festivals such as Tabaski. Cuisine In The Gambia

The Gambian cuisine is a reflection of the country’s diverse cultural influences, with a mix of traditional West African, Portuguese and Indian flavours. What makes Gambian cuisine unique is the use of local ingredients such as peanuts, fish and vegetables which are combined with a blend of spices to create rich and flavorful dishes.

One of the most famous Gambian dishes is benachin, which is similar to jollof rice found in other West African countries. It is a one-pot dish made with rice, vegetables and a mix of spices, this includes ginger, garlic and chilli pepper. The abundance of seafood in The Gambia also makes it a seafood lover’s paradise, with grilled and fried fish being particularly popular. Freshly caught prawns, lobster and other seafood are often used in traditional dishes, giving them a unique and authentic flavour.

Properties in tourist areas such as Kololi, Kotu and Senegambia are typically more expensive, due to the location of the property. Often, these will be located close to the beach and near tourist attractions. These areas offer a range of rental properties from luxury villas to more modest apartments. However, there are also more affordable rental options available in other areas of The Gambia. For example, some areas of Serrekunda offer a range of rental properties at lower prices, while still providing easy access to amenities such as shops and restaurants.
